AQTIA to Succeed JAL’s Sauna Tech Business “TOKYO SAUNIST” and Accelerate Expansion

Expansion and Service Enhancement of the TOKYO SAUNIST Project

AQTIA Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yukio Kitano; hereinafter referred to as “AQTIA”) will take over the sauna technology business “TOKYO SAUNIST” (hereinafter referred to as “the Service”), which was jointly developed with Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “JAL”). To facilitate this, AQTIA will establish a new company to accelerate the expansion of this business.

Since December 2024, AQTIA has taken the lead in the Service’s operations, striving to enhance and expand it further while providing new value.

1. Background of the TOKYO SAUNIST Business Transfer

The number of facilities adopting the Service has been steadily increasing, particularly in the Tokyo metropolitan area. As we enter the next phase of business expansion, we aim to introduce new functions and services while extending our reach to more locations. To achieve these objectives, we have decided to transition to an independent operation model.

After careful consideration of the most effective and agile business structure, we concluded that the best approach is for a new company established by AQTIA to inherit and manage the business.

2. Background of AQTIA’s New Company Establishment and Service Operations

AQTIA specializes in supporting clients in creating new businesses and expanding existing ones. Since the development of this Service with JAL, AQTIA has provided comprehensive support, from business planning and MVP creation to the development and operation of the commercial service. The Service also integrates AQTIA’s intellectual property and assets.

To accelerate this growth, the new company established by AQTIA will inherit JAL’s related trademark rights and continue to expand the business.

3. Future Outlook

To drive further expansion, we are actively pursuing the following initiatives:

① Implementation of the TOKYO SAUNIST Startup Campaign

We are updating the “TOKYO SAUNIST Startup Campaign 37,” previously conducted by JAL, and will offer special monthly subscription rates.

② Recruitment of Sales Partners for the Advertising Service “TOKYO SAUNIST Ad Placement”

We are seeking sales agents (partners) for “TOKYO SAUNIST Ad Placement,” a unique advertising distribution service that displays digital signage advertisements in front of sauna rooms and relaxation areas.

③ Launch of a Mobile App for Sauna Users

We have launched the “TOKYO SAUNIST” app for sauna users. This app enhances the sauna experience by providing real-time congestion data using high-precision sensors. It features congestion status monitoring, trend analysis by day of the week, facility search, favorites registration, coupon distribution, and more.

With this app, users can plan the optimal sauna experience anytime.

④ Introduction of New Functions and Services

We are planning further service enhancements, including:

A. Visualization of Congestion in Additional Facility Areas

Currently, congestion data is limited to sauna rooms. We will extend this service to include other facility areas such as public baths, entire buildings, restaurants, gyms, and coworking spaces. This will enable users to optimize their time in the facility while allowing facility operators to gain high-resolution foot traffic insights.

Additionally, we will expand digital signage installations, increasing the available advertising areas.

B. Introduction of Digital Stamps

We are considering implementing a digital stamp system that can be used for point cards and ticketing. With our rental stamp devices, facilities can introduce this service without requiring additional infrastructure.

C. Expansion of Management Features for Facility Operators

We will continuously implement various requests and ideas from facilities using our service.

“TOKYO SAUNIST” utilizes 3D-LiDAR sensors installed in front of sauna rooms to detect occupancy with high precision. This data is aggregated in the cloud to provide real-time congestion visualization for sauna users and facility operators through an application (patent pending).

In addition to real-time sauna occupancy tracking, we have also expanded the service with “TOKYO SAUNIST Ad Placement,” an advertising distribution service that leverages digital signage displaying congestion data.
